CIDB Registration
The cidb supports the transformation of South Africa’s construction industry by promoting inclusion and high ethical standards. It also amplifies industry participants’ contributions to South Africa’s economy and society. Register of Projects must be completed by all government institutions.
Contractors need to apply through the cidb for grading in order to be listed on the Register of Contractors. This will allow them to expand their business opportunities. The cidb must be adhered to by all firms that provide consultancy services or contracts in the construction environment.
NHBRC Registration
NHBRC’s mandate is to protect consumers of housing and to ensure that builders follow the Home Building Manual’s prescribed building industry standards.
Our goal is protect and assist housing consumers from unscrupulous home builders.

No matter the value or size of your home, the NHBRC will help and protect you. As valued customers, we encourage you to ensure your builder is certified and registered with the NHBRC.
Every person involved in building homes is required to register with the NHBRC. Anybody who fails to do so will be prosecuted. NHBRC certifies builders who are able to meet industry standards for technical competence, financial capability and construction experience.

The CIDB requires that applicants submit the following documents, but not all documents are required to be submitted for every class & grade of application.

NHBRC registrations
1. Represent the interests of housing consumers by providing warranty protection against defects in new homes;
2. Regulate the home building industry;
3. Provide protection to housing consumers in respect of the failure of home builders to comply with their obligations in terms of this Act;
4. Establish and to promote ethical and technical standards in the home building industry;
5. Improve structural quality in the interests of housing consumers and the home building industry;
6. Promote housing consumer rights and to provide housing consumer information;
7. Communicate with and to assist home builders to register in terms of this Act;
8. Assist home builders, through training and inspection, to achieve and to maintain satisfactory technical standards of home building.
